Certified Humane is administered by Humane Farm Animal Care, a national non-profit organization created to improve the lives of farm animals. Products carrying the Certified Humane seal are verified to meet the Humane Farm Animal Care program standards, which include nutritious diet without antibiotics or hormones, animals raised with shelter, resting areas, sufficient space and the ability to engage in natural behaviors.
American Humane Certified
The American Humane® Certified program (formerly known as the Free Farmed program) provides third-party, independent verification that certified producers’ care and handling of farm animals meet the science-based animal welfare standards of American Humane.
Animal Welfare Approved standards have been developed in collaboration with scientists, veterinarians, researchers, and farmers across the globe to maximize practicable, high-welfare farm management. The standards incorporate best practice and recent research and have been adopted only after rigorous review. The basic premise of all the standards is that animals must be able to behave naturally and be in a state of physical and psychological well-being.
