Crystal Springs Consulting, Inc. has been working since 2001 to connect companies with independent producers committed to organic, sustainable, and natural food production. Our commitment to the principles of authenticity stretch back more than 30 years.
Dave Carter, the founder and principal of Crystal Springs Consulting began working with family farmers in the intermountain West in 1978. The farm crisis of the 1980’s clearly demonstrated the devastating consequences of a food system that disconnected farmers and ranchers from their customers. Thousands of agricultural producers fell by the wayside during that crisis simply because they could not produce food cheaply enough to satisfy the demands of the conventional marketplace.
Meanwhile, other agricultural producers were striking out on a different path. These farmers and ranchers were pioneering a movement dedicated to growing food with added values that would be appreciated by a small—but growing—segment of the public that was seeking an alternative to cheap, tasteless and unhealthy diets. These producers were literally planting the seeds for the development of the natural and organic food system. more>>
Why the Name: Crystal Springs?
In the heart of a small village nestled
at the base of Longs Peak in
Colorado’s Rocky Mountains is a natural water source named Crystal Spring. Above that spring stands a sign that simply reads, Let All Who Thirst be Our Guest.
That is where I grew up. Crystal Spring provided the source of water year round for our families, and refreshed thirsty tourists who happened through our small mountain community. It is more than just a source of water. It is a source of sustenance and connections. That’s the inspiration for Crystal Springs Consulting, Inc.
